Information to answer students' questions on textpaks, simulations, books, and other course materials.

Rules and Policies

Refunds for Digital Coursepacks

This is the collection of short readings that you accessed through Canvas.

Eligibility

You are eligible for a refund on the digital version of your coursepack if you:

  1. Have officially dropped, or disenrolled from, the class before the Drop/Add Deadline.
  2. Have not downloaded the digital content.

If you meet these conditions, please email customerservice@study.net to request your refund.

How the Refund Appears

If your refund is approved, the method of the refund depends on how you originally purchased.

  • Did you pay in your tuition? If so, the University will credit the cost to your student account. Please check Wolverine Access to ensure that the refund appears; it may appear as a "Class Fee" or "Lab Fee."
  • Did you pay with a credit card? If so, Study.Net will refund the purchase price to the same credit card. Please email cs@study.net if you have any questions about that.

Refunds for Printed Coursepacks?

Unfortunately, printed versions of the coursepack are non-returnable and non-refundable.

Refunds for e-Textbooks

These are the e-books that you accessed through your course Canvas site, usually using a link titled Engage or McGraw-Hill Connect. Their cost is always added to your tuition as a "course fee", "class fee," or "lab fee."

Eligibility

You are eligible for a refund only if you drop, or disenroll from, the class before the Registrar's Drop/Add Deadline.

How the Refund Appears

The University will credit the cost to your student account. Please check Wolverine Access to ensure that the refund appears.

Please do not share a coursepack you have purchased with someone who has not - even if it's a good friend, partner, or spouse! It is a violation of copyright law and the Ross Community Values to use materials (even digital readings that seem as though they should be free) that you have not paid for.

Every student must purchase their own Study.Net digital coursepack. You will receive a Canvas announcement instructing you on the method of purchasing this coursepack either with a credit card or if a fee included in your tuition as different classes use different methods.

Costs of coursepacks are determined exclusively by the materials your instructor selects. When students purchase coursepacks, they only pay for the cost of the materials; the Course Materials process is a not-for-profit operation.

  • The prices of the digital coursepacks include the copyright costs, or royalty fees, charged by the publisher or author of the reading. (That is why the digital version is the standard format that every student receives.)
  • The prices of the printed coursepacks (TextPaks) include only the costs of paper and printing. (They do not include the publishers' copyright fees, which is why they cannot be purchased instead of the digital coursepacks!)
  • The prices of the eTextbooks that appear in your Canvas sites include not only the publishers' copyright costs, but also the cost of the accompanying software (Which may allow you to take quizzes, make notes, or collaborate with your classmates).

Because we are part of the Ross School of Business, Kresge staff can always obtain significant "educational" or "academic" discounts on the prices of items your instructors select. The price of each Harvard Business School case study in your coursepack, for example, is lower even than the price "per student degree granting course" listed on the Harvard Business Publishing website.

If you have any questions, or would like to suggest some low-cost alternatives, please contact your instructor directly. We regret that we cannot share exact pricing details with students.
