Database Use

Use of information in these resources is governed by the Ross Community Values and Academic Honor Code, as well as individual database vendor agreements. Kresge Library contracts with vendors to allow faculty, students, and staff to use these subscription databases for educational, personal and non-commercial purposes. As part of the agreement, both copyright and contract law apply.

According to the "fair use" clauses of U.S. copyright law, you may cite short excerpts in papers and reports for classroom and other academic uses if you also cite the source of the information (e.g. journal article). You may not use entire works for this purpose. When using information from these databases, properly cite and credit the source. If you have any questions about citing a particular resource, please contact us.

The following databases are newly acquired or being evaluated for a future subscription.
CMIE Consumer Pyramidsdx
  • Ross users only
Consumer Pyramidsdx provides access to the Consumer Pyramids Household Survey Data for the people of India from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE). The survey data is divided into 4 series:

  • People of India: demographic information

  • Aspirational India: consumer wealth and purchasing

  • Income Pyramids: income seasonality and change

  • Consumption Pyramidsdx: consumption and household expenditure.

Data in all 4 series is available from 2014 - present (2022) with updates on a yearly or 3 month basis depending on the series.
Financial Times Online Subscription (Trial)
Trial runs through 31 December 2023

Current content of Financial Times (FT). Includes full-page display (ePaper) of USA, UK, European and Middle East editions. Includes full-page display archive from 2005 to present in multiple editions.

Available to Ann Arbor, Flint and Dearborn campuses, students, faculty and staff can create their own account with FT.COM, using UMICH email address. Access includes optional newsletters via email, saved articles, and feeds, along with the full content of the Financial Times Online.

Portfolio Management Research (PMR), formerly II Journals, is the leading provider of independent financial research for all within the investment sector. The collection provides access to all 14 journals from PMR, including: Journal of Portfolio Management, Journal of Investing, Journal of Derivatives, Journal of Impact and ESG Investing, Journal of Fixed Income.
