Community Values and Academic Honor Code, as well as individual database vendor agreements. Kresge Library contracts with vendors to allow faculty, students, and staff to use these subscription databases for educational, personal and non-commercial purposes. As part of the agreement, both copyright and contract law apply.
According to the "fair use" clauses of U.S. copyright law, you may cite short excerpts in papers and reports for classroom and other academic uses if you also cite the source of the information (e.g.

Current content of Financial Times (FT). Includes full-page display (ePaper) of USA, UK, European and Middle East editions. Includes full-page display archive from 2005 to present in multiple editions.
Available to Ann Arbor, Flint and Dearborn campuses, students, faculty and staff can create their own account with FT.COM, using UMICH email address. Access includes optional newsletters via email, saved articles, and feeds, along with the full content of the Financial Times Online.
