What is a Market Map?

Market mapping is the process of visually organizing information about various competitors in a specific industry or vertical to understand their positions and identify potential market trends. 

PitchBook Market Maps:

  • Find Market Maps in the left-hand navigation Menu

  • Click on Market Maps

  • Search by keyword or browse by clicking View All Market Maps

  • Click on a Market Map to drill down to segments and explore companies

Custom Market Map from a PitchBook Company Screen:

  • Click on Companies & Deals under Screeners to start a company screening and create your list

  • After adding all desired criteria, click Segment with Market Maps from the results list

You can also customize Market Map results:

  • Edit Segments: Segments group logos within the market map commonality like industry group, location, or baking status. You can also create custom segments.
  • Edit Companies: You can include more additional companies in your results by dragging logos off the map or between segments or click on Add Companies to add more logos directly or find all the companies from your search on the lists
  • Edit Design: Change the look of your market map by editing colors, logo shapes, and more.
  • Edit Data Labels: Change segment level data and company level data that’s included in the market map

 

Using Market Maps
